What Auto Trans Did 1st Gen have?

What models of auto's did the first gens come out with? Was it the 518 and the 727? If so witch one is the more relighable of the two, witch one would go up to a 205 transfer case the best? How are they opperated, or controled?



My use is for puting an auto behind a cummins that is going to be in a chevy but the engine used to have a 5 speed attatched to it. Thanks Jon

Both the 727 nd 518 were in the 1st gens.



518 has OD 727 doesn't



727 is puerely mechanical control, 518 has OD electrically activated either with a switch or with a computer





You might want to consider a 47RH or 47RE for the conversion. A little easier to find and totally suitable.
