Where is the best place for Prodigy

Just got a 10. 6 Bigfoot and was wondering what the best battery is for longevity when not hooked up to shore power.

If you have the room in the battery compartment, use 2 6-volt Golf Cart batteries wired in series.

This will give you the greatest capacity.

Sam's Club carries them at reasonable rates.

just went through this with my Dads Motorhome. He did not have a deep enough area for the 6Volt'ers, so we went with the 29 series Walmart Everstart. Its cheep enough, has a good warrantee and can be replaced at far more locations then just about any other battery seller.

With the 29 series, he should be able to get at least 2 nights out of it with mild heat requirements

No I don't work for Walmart either.

I agree. I built a battery box in my trailer to accomodate 4 six volt golf cart batteries. We do a lot of dry camping in the summer; running lights, TV and satellite, as well as two fantastic fans which run continuously and still have some power left after four days. Bought them at Sam's for around $50. 00 each. Got the plans for an acid proof ventilated battery box out of a marine maintenance book. Works like a charm and is a darn sight better than what the manufacturer put in the trailer.

I have a trevel trailer with two g27 batt. wish i could go with two 6 volts but i cant. You probably have room for one group 27 , 12volt battery in your camper. I would recommend Interstate. That is my opinion. Happy camping!! Jim

First of all, I wish I had a Bigfoot rig! I just recently "discovered" that brand. That is one really nice, well built unit.

You may want to look into the new Gel (?) type battery. I believe Sams has just started carrying them. Similar to the Optima mentioned below. A little pricey however.

Also look at this site: http://www.optimabatteries.com/ (see the Marine series) I remember a similar discussion on batteries a longtime ago on TDR and someone really really liked this series.

Good info source on Batteries

I mentioned Optima on last reply but you might want to check this site out.

They indicated they have had warranty problems with the optima.

I also found out that the new style batterys probably aren't "gel cells", but are "Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries " They do have some really high amp hour rates, don't gass, don't spill, etc. Much safer, can mount anywhere (even sideways), apparently without any need for a box or vent!!
