I have always run NAPA Application Engineered pads. I use these pads on all my cars. They stop straighter and last longer than any other that I have used. They do make noise because they are a metallic pad.
You guys that use these how did you get the squeal to go away? I put then in a couple weeks ago and they sound like metal to metal. And they are installed correctly. My rotors only have 35k on them and are in perfect shape. Will this go away after some miles are put on them? I hope so cause it is irritating. Any input would be helpful thanks. Oh and by the way I already used the spray on the brake pads that was mentioned to me once before, and it did not work. Thanks...
Sam is a TDR member, the resident brake guru. Do a search by user name and read all of Sam's posts. They're mostly brake related but some will involve AC. He has a shop in Washington.
And as far as brake dust go's these things are worse than the stockers, almost looks like someone painted my wheels. Maybe I got sent a different brand or set than you guys. But if this terrible sound does'nt go away soon I'm tossing them.
And as far as the comment about Ventura county are you trying to be funny?
When I spoke with Sam, he said not to be overly concerned about rear shoes. He suggested something not too expensive and anything but NAPA. As far as pads, I agree Sam's Carbomets are the way to go.
I'm using Wagner Thermal Quiets. No more brake dust. And the truck actually stops but they do make a little metallic noise every now and then. They are kind of pricey but worth the money.
I want to thank him for his concern and help with the brake pads. Obviously he read this post or someone from here told him I was having some problems with my pads. So he emailed me and I gave him a call. We worked it out over the phone and he gave me some suggestions on how to get these things to quiet down a bit. I took his advice and gave it a shot. It did help some the brakes are a little quieter and don't screech at every stop, I understand they will make noise sometimes but before it was all the time. As far as the dust go's it is still there but not near as bad, I think his brake in procedure might of helped. Now I am much happier with these pads. And as far as Sam go's what a great guy and excellent customer service. Thank You .
