I have 56000 miles on a set of Michelin LTX's and still gooing, over half of that towing a 31' 5th wheel. I have had terrible luck with Goodyears.

White 99 3500, QC, 3:55, auto. most options except leather, Line-X bed liner, fiberglass running boards Rancho 9000s, bug shield and window vents, black vented 5th wheel tailgate, 110 gal. aux. fuel tank.

On an old for I used to drive we used a set of Bridgestone E rated tires. They were pretty pricy but they were stout. That truck ran about 10K rear axle wieght and they had a little less than half tread at 50K of mostly city miles on a ford F-450 that wieghed 14K. The firestones we had previous to those cupped very badly all around the truck. Good luck

Were the Firestones E-rated?

I assume so, Hell I hope they were on a 14K truck lol. Hiperf360s old truck had a set of firestones that were doing the same thing also.

Michelins, all the way. Of course I like the looks of the bfg all terrrain. Only comes in load range D for my size,I'm afraid to drop down a rating. I'll probably go with Michelins again. I'll start savin with these are bout gone. They are kinda pricey at 168. 00 a piece.

I see you said "high way tread", Now your talking my language.

After 2 sets of Badyears in 40K miles, I switched to the Cooper Super Road Master II's. They were just over $100. 00 each, and came with a 60K mile tread life warrantee! The only E range tire I found with a warrantee.

I now have 40K on them, and they look really good. I would defenetly replace them with Cooper SRM II's. Plus I ran them on the front all winter in the snow, never did have a problem stearing. They are Highway Rib design, but have the M/S rating. Quiet, ride better then the Badyear's, what more can I say. Price the rest, and try the Coopers! (and buy something with all the money you have left over)

Michelin XPS RIB for highway and TRACTION for other. The only tire that I've found with a steel belted sidewall. Excellent mileage and no sidewall flex.

MICHELIN LTX!

64,000 on my first set (6 tires on Big Red). 20,000 on my second and they look new. I usually have a cabover on, and tow a trailer behind. Great wear, no cupping, and no flats.

Also, here's one to put your brain in a cramp, I have never rotated my dually tires. See previous thread about this from last year... ... .

Firestones... guaranteed to fly apart at 70 mph - and remember, Firestone is concerned for your safety, that's why they refused to recall the rest of their tires that the DOT found to be faulty. Not a surprise that a company like Ford uses them (remember the Pinto), but then any other tire on an explorer would be like a $100 sadle on a 2 cent horse.

On my last 4 trucks i have had the best luck with Remington wide-brutes. On a 3/4 ton Chevy 2-by the highway tread went through 8" snow, sandy beaches, Mexican desert and heavy rain never let me down. and lasted for 65,000 miles

had michellins from stock, good tires and good mileage, don't need a e-rating since I have a shell on. I bought BFG AT TA 265/75-16 with a d rating. that is good enough for any TT. went to moab last weekend, BFG great on slickrock!! no slipping! #ad

Goodyear also makes one. I forget the number, something like G-59?

You will them on school bus vans. I have heard you have to give out barf bags to the passangers when you run this type of tire on our trucks they ride so rough.

ONly problem is they were listed in the 245-75-16 size, but there was only 2 in the complete USA. Tons of the 235-85-16" around.

Plus Firestoned makes one for delevery trucks. Cooper has them also, lots of UPS Trucks use them.

Thanks guys; I've had a couple of bad Michellins; everyone can make a bad tire. My Coopers on my Buick went bad after about 60,000 miles of abuse and STILL had plenty of tread left! I can get the SRMII's mounted and balanced for $90 each, so I'm going with Cooper. Thanks for steering me clear of Firestones; they came highly recommended down here!
