Sneaky Northern Tool

Air lines in a shop, what would you use?

Makita 1/2" drive cordless impact guns are bulletproof.

Our crew uses them constantly. I can’t say enough good things about them; they work well, have a long battery life, and withstand extreme abuse.

Craftsman 15. 6 volt, came with drill, flashlight, charger and two batteries in a case for $49 brand new... couldn't pass it up, looks an awful lot like a Milwaukee...

My "cordless" drills are a Brace & Bit, and an old Yankee Push Drill!:D

Otherwise I have 6 Milwaukee corded drills from a 1/4 inch, up to a 1 1/2" Rotary Hammer. Love Milwaukee!

Milwaukee makes good cordless tools, how come you left them out of the poll?

2) 6 1/2 inch cordless 18v Millwaukees, 1 Milwaukee 18v sawzall, 1) 18 volt cordless Milwaukee hammerdrill, 2) 14 volt Milwaukee driver drills, 1 Milwaukee cordless caulk gun. Wifes-craftsman 3/8 driverdrill. I've Burned up every Makita I've owned, 2 skill cordless drills, 5 craftsman cordless saws. Sold the Dewalt 18v stuff. Dewalt was rugged but had a short battery life and none of the tools ran as smooth and long as the Milwaukee. You get what you pay for. Craftsman stuff was good for occasional use only. go do a serious job and they would smoke or quit all together. We build decks and fences every day. We have had Millwaukee 1/2 inch driver drills run for 3-4 years and them sell them as used and buy a new set. They have been dropped in ponds, two stories onto concrete, used for hammers and only God knows what else. we Keep about 4 batteries for each tool and several 110 volt chargers plus the vehicle chargers so these drills can put in screws all day long . I always made me mad with the other brands to run out of batteries before the day was done. Putting in 3 inch deck screws, I have seen these drills get so hot after a few hours work you didn't want to hold them anymore but they keep on going. Batteries charge fast too.

we started with makita when cordless tools first came out. we now use the dewalt 9. 6 drills. we have 5 used in production all the time. biggest problem has been that the plastic cases do not stand up to the coolant used in the machines. they crack after about 6 months. fortunately the case sections are relatively inexpensive.

I've got a dewalt dw998 w/o battery that I wiil ship to anyone. Last of the 3 that still works. I've used Makita and Millwaukee for 15 years and still have the old 9. 6 Makita screw-gun.

Do Ridgid. Home Depot had a life time battery replacement (18vdc) for sets bought before Dec 31, 2003. Pricy stuff, 420. for the hammer drill, cir saw, recp saw, & light. Guess I paid for the batteries up front.

Porter Cable and some Dewalt, but I have had to replace the Dewalt a couple times, and never had any problems with the Porter Cable.

Sorry about that, looks like your not alone in this thread with many others using Milwaukee.

Actually my reason for posting was to first find out what is most popular and second to find out if there is any interchangeability in the batteries or if each manufacture has their own design.

Have had bosch 14. 4 volt for over 4 years still using original batteries. Just bought Bosch 18 volt combo kit. Use Dewalt at work and dont like. I have owned panasonic also which is a quality tool.

One more vote for Milwaukee!

I bought a 18volt combo kit two years ago with the drill, light, cicular saw, sawzall, and jobsite radio and everything in it has worked great. The kit came with a nice canvas bag to carry all the tools in which I like better than the hard plastic cases. I also have a cheapy Ryobi 7. 2 drill that is nice for just a screw gun and a 18 volt 1/2 Dewalt which has also been a great drill.

I will say one thing the Milwaukee drill has way more torque than the Dewalt does, and it also runs longer on a charge than the Dewalt.

One other thing that I got is a 12volt charger for the Milwaukee kit to use in the truck on on the ATV. Never thought I would use it much (it was free with a mail in rebate), but it has sure come in handy when you would least expect it.

The Craftsman and Ryobi are both made by Skill/Bosch Crop. They just use a little cheaper construction on the housings and bearings to cut down on the costs.

I have a bunch of 18 volt Ryobi tools, and have been happy with them. But, my DeWalt 18 volt and corded tools are more expensive and higher quality. You get what you pay for.
