I want to get new gauges but don't know what brands are the best,I will mount them an the window pillar. thanks smoore

Smoore:

There are a variety of gauges out there and it seems to be a personal preference thing. I use SPA's which are dual digital gauges. They are very nice but expensive compared to others. Autometer, VDO , Dipricol, Isspro and Westach all make quality gauges to name a few. You might try looking at www.summitracing.com and www.genosgarage.com and my personal favorites www.spatechnique.com. Happy hunting I am sure some others will chime in with there ideas.

SPA'S, SPA'S, SPA'S...

IMO, there is no better gauge gauge than SPA. A little pricey, but you get two gauges in one and they have a load of features.

BTW, you can add great customer service. Ron and Patrick are two of the best:DOo. :D

smoore,

I've had my truck just about a year and when it finally came down to it I went w/Westach's on the A-pillar. Haven't received them yet but should by the end of the month - A-pillar & FP gauge on back-order. Why Westachs - IMHO - best bang for the buck. After the novelty of having gauges wears off, you want to be able to "at a glance" notice if something is wrong. Sure the SPA's have a real neat light which you can program limits to set off, are nice but they are a bit expensive. I was going to go with them, but figured I'd save some $ for future transmission bombs.

Happy hunting.

which gauge

I currently have three SPA gauges on the column. I've had problems with all of them except for the pyro gauge. If I had it to do all over again SPA wouldn't be my choice. it's nice to have six gauges, but I'd rather have three that I could depend on.

iVE had westach. and SPA,I would definetely go with Westach, from Geno's. The SPA's always have something wrong with them, out of the 4 i have there's always one that isnt working right, now its the EGT guage. With the westach, they always worked no matter what, the westachs are much cheaper ,and more reliable, hands down. if you gotta have the cool looking SPA's,plan on them giving you trouble.

Smoore,

Asking who has the best gauges is like asking who has the 2nd best college football team in the nation(Alabama of course is #1).

I used Autometer sport comps in mine. real happy with them and after glancing at them a couple of times, all i do now is look at the needle placement. no need to worry about reading numbers. i can tell by the position of the needle if things are where they are supposed to be.

One thing is for sure. you will find many opinions of gauges on this site. my suggestion, take in all the opinions, if you can look at some gauges in trucks or cars for that matter and pick whether you like digital or analog and then find a style that you like.

Isspro EV fuel pressure gauge

Hey Duane-I've got the EV FP gauge in my truck. It's mechanical..... they don't currently offer an electric although lots of TDR members have emailed them expressing interest and I'm sure one of these days one will show up in their catalog. The mechanical is a nice gauge-0 to 30 psi with the same backlit face etc. as any other EV gauge. I ran mine in with braided 1/8" line for peace of mind.

Saved me from a tow and possible injection pump damage by allowing me to see a failing lift pump before it totally puked-so it's paid for itself already!
