what can I do for more hp?

My brother has a 92 250 and was wondering what he could do himself to get more power from his truck. He says there is a spring or something you can remove but I know very little about the 12 valve motor. Any info would be appreciated.

There is a lot of pump adjustments that can bring out HP and Lucas injectors also. I have a friend with a 1st gen that really screams and the Lucas injectors are the biggest cost mod that he made also a 12cm housing will wake it up too with quicker spool up on the turbo.

I started by letting mine breath better - K&N, 3. 5 inch exhaust (get rid of that flat pipe over the rear diff. ) and 14cm turbo. I got a good seat of the pants performance feel. I also added guages so I could monitor everything. Next came better injectors, then swiss cheese air box and some pump tweaking. My final preformance enhancement was a "built" 230hp pump that really woke the old girl up. With all these changes I can still see 21-23 mpg on the road at 65-70 mph and my overall mileage remains at 18. 47 mpg. Hope this helps and good luck.
