My new to me truck Thanks for the help

What does the dealer do to "prep" my new 600?

I have had 8 CTD's and only my 2 first gens billowed the black stuff. I was behind a 2nd gen today and it was pouring out the black smoke under throttle. None of my 2nd gens smoked. What causes this cause I miss it and want it back. There was nothing better when someone was tailgating to lay on the skinny pedal and fog 'em out. :D

those first gens have such big turbine housings, they take a while to spool up... makes for a nice smoke show when you lay into the throttle. someone had probably turned up the off-boost fuel on your trucks.

BD performance makes a power upgrade box that has 5 power levels and 5 smoke levels for each power level. On 5x5 it smokes like the proud mary steaming up the missisippi. I'm going to get it sometime. I want to make smoke. Well more than it does now. And it smokes pretty good now.

I've never heard of cheap smoke for either one of the computer controlled engines. If your gonna smoke you'll need a boost fooler. Smoke is fuel and fuel makes boost. I guess you could get something like an edge EZ or the equivalent of that. I think they are about as cheap as your gonna get and still get decent smoke. I would go with a comp box or a DDUFM they will make even more smoke but you will probably need a clutch or worked over auto if you turn them up all the time. Like I said smoke aint cheap. Not like the old 12v where you could just turn the star wheel (unfortunately).

Fellas - I'm in Peyton - just moved back from 3 1/2 yrs in California. We should get a BOMBing party going out here, or at least swap war stories... .

Mine smokes a bunch at low boost now - wasn't so bad at sea level, but up here (cough, wheeze) - need to crank the starwheel down a bit.

yeah it's way thin. EGT's seemed to increase by a small margin, but it definitely takes much longer for the EGT's to cool down before shut-off.

I used to live out near Peyton. Actually SE of Falcon about 6 miles or so. But now live in the springs, but would be interested in a local get together around here... .....
