Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) What code (if any) do you get when your LP goes KAPOOT?

Howdy!



Seems my lift pump may be ready to retire with a whopping 45,000 miles on the clock. Well, its done a heck of a job... can't expect those engineering marvels to last forever.

What code shows up, if any, when the LP goes kapoot? I'm getting P1693. TIA.

None generally show up for a weak lift pump.

P1693 = 'DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM' Also, 'Fault detected in the companion engine control module'



. . . whatever that means. Probably just one of those Cosmic Ray Strikes that doesn't really have anything to do with a real problem.

codes?

There isn't any code for a bad lift pump. Mine failed and the Diagnotics were clean. If you don't have gauges and your lift pump fails, your engine simply won't start. So I guess you could call that the dead engine code or DEC for short.

You might get an 0230. I am not sure. 0230 is "lift pump out of range. " I managed to trigger that code today. I had the pump wire disconnected while checking the polarity so I could run a trigger wire for my pusher pump. I am not sure if it triggers from not having any fuel pressure/flow.

If your injector pump does not get enough fuel you might get a code P0216. It is "injector pump timing failure" It is caused because the injector pump uses excess fuel too control the advance of the pump. I got it because I plugged up a fuel filter.
