What color is the ignition?

What color is the ignition of the diesel fuel / air mixture in the combustion chanber? Is it the same color as gas/air mixture?

Kidding... I would guess sooty flash of yellowish fire, it is under a "controlled burn environment.

Since I've never looked in mine while it is igniting I'm going to guess blue.

I've been told it's roughly white. I take it to mean it's mostly blue with a little yellow? Maybe not. In any case, it is detectable, even at idle, for timing purposes in an indirect injection engine, like the 7. 3 IH engine.

Maybe it really is mostly while... Remember Alladin lamps?
