Just curious what color your interior is. Personally, I see far more charcoal interiors. There are only two available colors right?

Thats funny you see more of those and the poll says also but when we bought it was real hard to find that color on a CTD. Both myself and the wife wouldn't go for the taupe and yes those are the only 2.

Taupe for us with a white exterior. Sun is less hot with the lighter colors and there is less sun damage. Had a charcoal interior and exterior Durango at work and you could barely hold the steering wheel after a couple of hours outside. Just put your hand on a dark color and a light colored rig on an open lot on a sunny day and you will get the message!

Just completed purchase of 3500 dually Friday. I looked all over the Northwest and found very few Taupe interiors. Most of the inventory is charcoal. Too late to order '04s now. (BTW) got dually for a SRW price!

I've got a Taupe on order. The dealers have lots of charcoal and few of the taupe on the lots that I've seen.

I thought it was that the charcoal ones were not selling.

No argument from me that charcoal is better looking than taupe. Air temperature such as Las Vegas (I grew up in St. George, Ut. ) is not the same as "insolation rate" (yes that is the correct word! and not a typo. ) It is hotter in St. George than Ogden, but the intensity of the sun is greater in Ogden because of the difference in altitude inspite of being farther north. When I moved back to Utah I was warned by a friend about the intensity of the sun and I scoffed at him. But I soon learned that he was right. Exposed surfaces degrade faster here than other places I have lived and it has to do with the amount of UV that comes through the thinner air. True for Wyoming, Colorado, etc. Worst of all is high elevations at low latitudes.

My truck won't fit into my low garage so it has to be outside, I have a dashmat and a custom sun shade with white and taupe to try to reduce the sun damage and UV load.

Colors

I also have a white truck, but wanted the interior to be charcoal. Even though I agree the lighter colors do reflect the heat better I myself work around grease a lot, so even though I take precautions to protect the seat covers, carpet, etc I believe the darker interior will show less stains. I use a windshield shade year around an have the aftermarket tinted windows. :D

I selected a Dark Interior. It tends to hide imperfections better. It would have been nice to have a lighter interior, but with mud, grease and grandchildren, the darker color just made more sense to me.

I choose the charcoal for the same reason as Tony T. and KD7GYJ. When I get done with a dirty job I don't have to worry so much about the seats. I think I would have a real hard time keeping the light taupe interior looking as good as the charcoal.

I have charcoal and my partner has tape.

Results are: Mine get dirty quicker but cleans up nice

His hides the dirt better but already has some stains.

I thought I wanted taupe but am very glad now that I have charcoal...

I got taupe, since I thought it made a better match with the green exterior. Ordered it that way. I had a very hard time in my area, finding a 6 spd. I looked at about 32 or so trucks and only found 2 that weren't auto.

It, a dealer thing

Some dealers, I've noticed order trucks almost entirely in one color interior or the other. The dealer I ordered from would order all trucks with the dark charcoal color. When I ordered mine that was the only color I had seen and wouldn't order the Taupe because I didn't know what it would look like. A new dealer opened here a few months later and the only they order trucks is with the Taupe. After seeing it I wish that I had ordered it, but I'm not going to :{ about it:D

I call it Light Gray.

I don't have any idea if it is Taupe, tape, or tan. It does show greasy hand prints.

I have the Taupe leather interior, love the color, wouldn't even consider the gray.

BTW, "Taupe = Light Gray"?? They don't even come close to being the same color! At least to my eyes. I suppose Taupe can be described as pale tan with some gray mixed in.

We have the Taupe Leather w/Laramie. We've had the tan leather in our '97 and '00 trucks and were very pleased with it. The light color goes well with the white exterior.

We have a '00 GMC Jimmy with the dark charcoal interior. Like a black exterior, which I had once, the dark charcoal is a "had once and never again color". The dark colors look richer when they are clean, but are hot and show every little bit of dirt and debris.

Exactly!! Taupe is a brown color, not light gray. I actually voted wrong because I saw the light gray and clicked on it. Dohh.
