what coolant is recommended?

I recently purchased a used 2001 Ram diesel/auto truck. I am in the process of replacing all the fluids in the truck. The truck has 39,500 miles on it, and i plan on changing all the fluids at approx. 40,000 miles. Just wondering what brand or type of coolant is recommended, or if anyone has some preferences over another brand.

I was reading the owner's manual yesterday (it was a slow day ) and noted that the coolant recommended by Dodge was a 50/50 ethylene glycol/water mix - standard run-of-the-mill stuff. What is different about the Cummins pre-mix coolant?

Probably nothing, my dealer is less then a mile from my house so I get most of parts from them.

I use the John Deere Cool-Guard. I prefer the pre-mix stuff as well, that way I'm not a all concerned with water quality.

I probably would have used the Fleetguard Compleat, but the JD coolant was almost 1/2 the price.

Use the fleetgard 50/50 pre-mix. Try calling your local or regional Cummins shop.
