I need some help figuring my truck out. ('96 2500 12V 5spd )I bought it used acouple years ago. It came with 4" stack, open exhaust and a TST sticker inside the tool box.

The truck ran really good and smoked pretty decent. I dyno'd the truck and it ran 273hp at 710 torque, also showing 38lbs boost on the boost gauge that I installed. I looked at the back of the housing and there was no boost elbow. The guy running the dyno figured it had a #12 plate. All I did to the truck was a clutch and AFE replacement filter.

Now after a few years I wanted more horsepower so I figured I'd get a #10 plate and change out the #12. Well tonight I tore into the project and the truck has been running the STOCK plate in the STOCK location. I took it for a ride and can notice alittle difference but not much.

So what could of been done to the truck if it was running a stock plate untouched w/ 38lbs @ 273 hp?????? I'm confused. . ANY HELP?????

370 injectors add about that much power to an otherwise stock truck. 38 PSI is way too much though for that much HP, overkill! You should run about 30-32 PSI at that power level.

Are you saying you put in the 10 plate and barely noticed any difference?

It doesn't necessarily need TST's boost elbow to increase boost. There's a fitting that looks otherwise stock but has a smaller orifice inside it to increase boost.

Did you slide the AFC housing forward all the way? If you left in stock postion, you won't feel a gain. Once you slide it, hold on. :)

I installed the plate in the stock location using there jig. When you say slide it forward. . You mean to slide the Plate & Housing both as far foward as possible?

Also on the TST elbow. Does anyboy know which way to move the screw to lower my boost? What would the stock boost be??

Installing the plate i broke off 2 of the screws holding the housing in place. I had to drill and tap one of them and the other was the break off screw which is still broke. So I'm running with 3 bolts holding my housing in place.

Yeah as far forward (toward front of truck) as possible. You can move the AFC housing forward without moving the plate, just loosen the screws and push it forward.

I believe screwing the screw in on the boost elbow raises boost but I'm not positive, back it out some and just see what happens.

The 3 bolts holding it on it OK for now, but fix it eventually.

Do you have a pyrometer? If not I wouldn't slide the plate forward.
