i was looking at my exhaust man. today and it looks like no#1 is running a little hotter then the rest, i am going to measure the temp on each one with the gun when i get a sec. to see for sure.

i though numbers 5-6 would be the hot ones.

Thanks

I don't know to much about it all, but I remeber reading a post saying that #6 was the cylinder to run the hottest I believe due to it being the farthest away from the coolant supply (I believe thats what I read, don't quote me on it). Can't find the post that discussed it, figured I would put it out there. Good luck.

????

Im with broncojohn's answer..... they are usually the hottest holes and therefore the consumers are stressed to install their pyros in the rear bank of the manifold..... Graphicman keep us posted to what you find out  ... ..... Jeremy

Could be a sloppy injector????

#3 and #4 seem to be my hottest on my engine but I am not sure its just heat being pulled from manifold because they all go together there. Reason I think mine is hot there is because my nice Cummins Red paint on the head is burning and turning black on those to ports and the others are just barely dark red. I was talking Van Haisley the other week at there Summitville, IN pull and he said that his hottest cylinder is also #3.

I wonder though like mentioned above just how much heat transfer those to ports would see because of the other exast ports feeding right into the manifold by them.

for some reason i am seeing the manifold turning color on number 1, and the rest seem to be ok,

i may have to pull the injectors and send them back to Don M to see if everything is ok with them

the last thing i need is to burn a whole in a piston

The last hole #6 should always be the hottest, it's the last place that the water gets to so the water is already hot when it get's there. Hence the reason gasser guys pump water to the rear of the head.

I checked my temps today with my lazer and out of them all #6 is the hottest just after a short burst of fuel and getting out and checking. Not quite sure why 3 and 4 have the paint peeling off the head like they are... will have to look into this some more.

I talked to Doug Smith today (about 1/2 hr to much to type on here) and he said everything was ok. i am going to check the temps with a gun just to see.

Thanks Doug
