We have a 2007 with 6. 7 engine. With a little over 10,000 miles on the odometer we've had no problems at all. No CEL lights, engine trouble, etc. Other than going in for the G-30 recall, it hasn't seen the inside of a Dodge dealer.

Should I be worried?

BTW, I just pulled the 14,000 lb fifth wheel and was a little disappointed in 8. 5 MPG. Of course, I've never babied my diesels. Up one really steep grade I was in 3rd gear and wound up tight at 3300 RPM with 57 MPH. :)

I own several trucks including a 08 5500 with 38K miles... we drive them like we stole them... Our 04 3500 now has close to 300K miles... .

The 08 lost a cam or was it a crank position sensor in the first 5,000 miles and hasn't been back to the dealer... it runs at 19,500 lbs most of the time and has given us close to 11 mpg... almost 2 mpg better than the F550 it replaced... but it doesn't have the large front area that a 5er has... .

My 05 3500 pulls my 5er about the same size as yours and is in the 9-11 mpg range... we leaving Thur for AZ and we'll see how it does in the mountains again... .

Don't worry, just drive it...

Nope, grin and enjoy it with confidence that you bought the right truck.

You are probably using/driving it as it was meant to be driven and worked.

We only hear about a very small sample of trucks on TDR from the total numbers that have been sold and are in service in the US and Canada and usually only hear about the small number of trucks that have set check engine lights or codes. I'd bet that there are far more 6. 7s out there that have been trouble free than there are problem trucks.

Congratulations on a good truck. Mine has also been trouble free.

Sounds like you got a good truck. I probably wouldn't change anything unless it gives you trouble. Any one that is considering a straight pipe and a programmer ... ... test drive one that has it done... you will be amazed. Harvey ... if you are ever around Tallahassee Fl. I invite you to drive mine.

By getting rid of the DPF and using a programmer has your mileage improved at all?

Made that trip in my '08 this summer Jim, averaged right about 9. 5-10 mpg pulling my 30' 5ver. Your '05 should see better than that I would hope.

I hit a huge pothole and my EGR, EGR Cooler, DPF and Cat all fell off. My mileage while towing went from 8. 5 to 15mpg. Empty I no w average on the xway 20. 5mpg.

Find the same pothole ;)
