Competition Best place/s to buy HT3b,B2 or Big Bro

Competition A couple turbo pics, did some swapping.

Told the owner of the local diesel shop i go to that I was wanting to build a 11 second truck out of my wifes 04. 5 at the end of next year. He said why settle for an 11 second truck and offered to swap out the 24 valve for an old 12 valve he's got sitting in the back.

Pretty good deal I think. Pull out the 24v. gut the engine compartment and slap a 12 valve in there. He said he's got somebody to do the machine work (I guess bore it out) on the 12v.

we'll see. :)

I know the 12v are good engines, but you could get more ponies from the 3rd gen 600 engine. That truck can throw down 800-1000hp easy.

Are there alot of 11 sec+ 3rd gens?

No, but thats the best part..... Its easy to jump on a bandwagon..... originality is what the game is all about. The 3rd gen engines are built better... . heavier, beefier & stronger with better internals.

I know Jeff Prince ( a Corpus local) is running a 10. 3 on his 12 valve, a guy in Flour Bluff (south of C. C. ) is running a 10. 7, saw Dr. Performance run a 8. 4 in his 12v in Houston (got it on video)... . they're all running 12 valves. doesnt Jeff Garmon run a 12v also? Why run the 11's when you can run the 9's or 10's.

If you wait..... not too long they will have a kit available to make the 3rd gen engine accept a mechanical pump. I look for it soon..... or you can just have the housing custom made. With the better internals, block, cooling of the 3rd gen block..... you would be looking at a stronger engine. I don't know... . maybe I'm dreaming, but I think the 3rd gen engines have alot more power left in them then what we are seeing today.

12v is the way to when it comes to the horse power game. You can get power from the commmon rail but it is more expensive and a little harder to move your way around the motor. The 12v's are very user friendly and simple compared to the newer common rail. Just my little thoughts.

I agree that the 12v are awesome & easy to work on & pull power out of... . I am actually keeping my eyes open for a 12v truck to sled pull with because of the simplicity. I am not trying to start a war..... just saying that I believe the 3rd gens will eventually rock the diesel world on the dyno & track. We are still only in the beginning phase of seeing what these engines are capable of & II is coming out with better fueling pumps for these trucks continually. Give it some time & 3rd gens will be top of the game..... its still early. Just my $. 02
