With 600lb/tq and 325 hp at 1600 rpms. That's what the Tronto Star is saying about Dodge's new lineup. Take a look at the bottom of the article. Could the writers be wrong and got confused with the new 6. 1L Hemi coming out?

A hemi ain't gonna make that kind of torque.

Otherwise, I'm 2G forever, 7100's preferred----whoops, I've wandered into the wrong threads again. :p

But really, how many more trucks do I need? If I live 50 more years and drive 30k per year (way more than I do now) that's 1. 5 million miles. Divide that by 4 trucks, and that's only 375,000 per truck. I have two trucks now one with 140k and one with 95k, and plan on getting a couple more eventually--they would probably have 100k each on them. So I still wouldn't have a truck with 500k on it.

With bypass filtration and a paint job every now and then, I could have a sweet stable of CTD's--all 5. 9--Hooked on 2G!

Maybe I should go back on my medication. :-laf

Big Cummins

This does not surprise me! I kept thinking that it a larger cubed engine was needed to handle the big HP and torque! The 5. 9 has been around for a long time and needed to be upgraded. This is also needed to compete with the Chevy and Ford. I am surprised that DC isn't offering a DD diesel as an option! I think the Series 50 would be a kick in a P/u truck.

What I'm saying is that the 6. 1L is the new Hemi, and they got that confused with the more powerful 5. 9 Cummins.

It makes no sense to me to go to a bigger motor (. 2 CI) to get the additional power when the current 5. 9 is more then capable of doing so. Especially if they have to raise the RPM to get the additional power.

Also if it truely is a new 6. 1L Cummins with emissions. I have to assume that the block is larger (Unless they somehow stroke the 5. 9). With a larger block and emissions, it's going to be awefully tight under the hood like the current Fords with the 6L PSD.

Time for my . 02, This 03 is my first diesel as well as my first dodge. Without a doubt the finest truck I have purchased to date. the 5. 9l is a rock solid performer capable of being upped in power without adding cubic inches to the block, (why bother)

Just saw a article that said that the new 6. 1L is a V8 diesel. Man, I hope Cummins didn't design a new V8 diesel for Dodge. Hopefully all this speculation on a V8 Cummins is the news folks getting the new 6. 1L Hemi confused. But if Dodge is going to a V8 diesel, then I'm sure glad I got one of the last Rams with the I6 5. 9L.

I wouldn't put any faith in a journalist's article. Most can't tell the difference between night and day. I've seen a picture of the 6. 1L HEMI. I think it's a fact.

The 5. 9L I-6 was rated for 605 ft/lbs ten years ago in other applications. If DC has come up with a transmission that can handle it, the motor is ready for it.

The whispers were the hemi was over 400hp. Its supposed to replace the v10 so its gonna have to be a big performer out of the box. Its got some 4. 6 supercharged mustangs to kill.

he ya go everyone does not need to get excited cummins is not going to get a new diesel its going to get a new larger 6. 1 liter hemi heres a pic.
