Home security system options?

Where did they go with my money?

I think it means the vehicles was wrecked and then rebuilt. But would that affect being able to get insurance for it? I am looking at a Hyundai Accent as a little beater/daily driver and the car "looks" very nice but it has a reconstructed title. Should I stay away?

If you buy an "r" title car you can get ins. no problem. I bought one and saved $2K less than a not "r" title books for, But if you have to sell it you must also take $2k less than book. Maybe your model will be more or less than mine, I did not resale it - ran it to the ground, so I don't know if a trade in at a dealer would be a problem.

For a beater I wouldn't worry about it. An "R" title can also be from a theft/repossession or flood, as far as I know. The insurance shouldn't be a problem.

BTW - Did you move? I haven't seen your truck over at the house for a while.

I just went through this myself a couple of weeks ago. I was looking at Suzuki sidekicks/Geo trackers as a good DD as diesel prices are #@$%!#@$%!. I did end up the the Sidekick that was totaled as it was nicer looking than most of the rest and I liked the looks of it. And I know a little about the Zuki's.

And I plan on running this thing into the ground so if it craps out I can always put the 16v into my Sammy and part out the rest. After having it a week and a half driving the boy child around with the new studded tires I am glad a bought it. Ease of mind with your family is priceless.

And I believe the "R" stands for reconstructed. The title brand on the kick says Totaled and Reconstructed.

Keep in mind what the Ins. Co. thinks, on a rig that is ten+ years old that is worth about $2000 and the repair bill get's over maybe 50% of the worth of the rig, I believe that the Ins. co. will just total the rig instead of paying to fix it as you can find another rig for cheaper than the repair bill.

Just give it a little extra attention when looking it over. If it looks like it was beat into shape and put together by monkeys, leave it alone. If it looks clean and operates fine, I would not worry too much. I've seen salvage and rebuilt titles on cars because of something as ridiculous as paint damage. I even saw one that had a rebuilt because the cost of replacing all the glass exceeded a certain percentage of the value after vandals knocked out all the windows and the owner filed a claim. In Alabama they automatically total any vehicle that receives 75% damage or more based on the insurance companies appraised value for the vehicle. Our suburban would not have been totalled if not for being a big block:mad:. The cost of the big block radiator, fan shroud, and auxillary cooling fan assembly pushed ours over the top, because the insurance company would only appraise it at base small block value#@$%!.
