What does it sound like.......

..... on a 04. 5 with the muffler eliminated and keeping the dang cat? Kinda apprehensive about taking off the cat with all the emissions requirements around here.

Anybody done this? If so, how much quieter is it than a full on straight pipe set up. I wanna hear the turbo through the exhaust and I was wondering if the cat quieted it down much.

In Colorado you can't alter the emissions control equipment and still pass the emmissions test. So if you remove it, you will not be able to license your vehicle. You have 2 years grace period before the manditory yearly emissions test on a Diesel. So you could do it for 2 years then you would have to put it back.

It would probably sound louder than stock but the turbo whine probably will get muffled by the cat. With my set up (no cat and magnaflow 4" open muffler stock piping) The sound is awesome with little drone in the cab.
