Technically we are not really opening our throttle wide in the sense of the phrase.....

Gassers open their throttle blades wide... . we just put the pedal to the floor and hope the injection pump does its job. Thank the lucky stars that we are not fly-by-wire like the PSD, 6. 5L TD, Duramax, etc.

On another note... my Dad rolled up the driveway with a 2001 Duramax this AM... . I said: "Hey, I thought I smelled crap!!"

Wide Open Throttle or WOT is a figurative term for a diesel engine as they operate in this mode at all times as Matt pointed out. Full fueling or loud pedal or go stick or ... . are a lot of terms you will see at times, too.

Matt

The ISB is a fly by wire. The "throttle" input to the engine controls is via a TPS.

ISB is fly-by-wire??

I thought I remembered seeing a throttle cable going to the top of the pump that is covered up by a nifty little plastic cover..... or is that just for cruise control?

I don't own a 24-V, I just appreciate them... . :D
