I have read posts with people talking about "All the emissions crap on the 325/600 motors". I'm wondering what extra emissions stuff it has on it compared to a 305/555 motor other than the cat coverter.

Thanks,

Pat

Obviosly the cat, the ECM's changed to incorperate a third injection event, also the porting and swirling of the head has also changed from the previous 3rd gen engines. Oh yeah the compressor housing is a little bigger and it now has an electronic wastegate actuator. Not sure if all of that is for emmisions but those are some of the changes in the new 600 engine.

Thanks Matty. Other than the cat, those don't seem to be changes that will make a drastic effect on the motor when compared to the 70's when horsepower levels were cut in half to meet the smog regulations.

I think the third shot is to keep the EGT high enough for the cat to work. So the idle/low power fuel consumtion is higher/efficiency is lower. It should not be as big a hit on towing applictions??? that is under high power, and the after shot should be turned down- enough heat. Any hotshotters have real data? Or those towing 5 ers - without thier foot in it. Higher power uses more fuel-you will get better milage pulling a 15,000Lb high top 5er with a stock 12 valve at full fuel than with a stock 325/600 at full fuel. But if both were towed at the same speed the 325/600 should only be a little less. Just theory. I have the 305/355 with the double shot no CAT. Very happy with it.
