Hey guys, I have a 89 Ford Ranger that needs a V-6 2. 9l engine my question is what other Ford products use this engine? And is it interchangable? My hope is to find a wreck and pull the engine.

Thanks all

As far as I remember the 2. 9 V6 was only available in the Rangers and Bronco II's. There's lots of them around though, finding a good runner shouldn't be hard.

Doing some research and found out that Mazda B truck are made buy Ford. Now adding Mazda to my search patern. Those aftermarket heads looks like the magic bullet.

Friend had a 1991 he regular cab long bed he bought new with a 4. 0. He added a few little mods and a vortec supercharger. I tried to pass him in my 93 LX Mustang 5. 0 5spd on a long straight highway. I didn't even get close. He started pulling away and just kept going. I was doing 120-130 and backed off cause I didn't have much more power left anyway.

In its stock form it was a dead even race. That truck was just a little powerhouse sleeper. Two tone brown/gold with tan interior... but you couldn't catch it.

I'd personally go for a 289/302 with a C-4 auto. That would be an easy job relatively speaking.

A buddy of mine swapped a 302 into his Ranger. That thing will GO GO GO!!

I think THIS is your best course of action...

As they used to say in Hot Rod magazine many years ago - "With a hot enough torch and a big enough checkbook, you can put any engine in any vehicle!" ;) :D

Well if your looking for a bunch of work and fabricating of course the only way to go is a Cummins B 3. 9:D.

As far as a direct bolt-in goes the 2. 9 v6 is your best bet. Some other Ford engines may swap in, like the 2. 8 v6, but I'd stay away from that one.
