What factory radios is the OEM Sirius radio compatable with?

Spec'ing out an '04, and wondering what factory radios can be used with the Sirius radio with full functionality.

My 03 radio has a "Raz" designation on

c. d. player in Laramie. Sirius works great

but was initially confusing on whether

it was satellite ready. The dealer had a Mopar brochure that was clearer as to

which radios/c. d players are satellite ready. My install required a template and a a antenna kit.

Enjoy!

CClayton Help me out please.

I also have the "RAZ" radio but in an 04. Just called the dealer I purchased from and am not sure they know what they are talking about. I was quoted $400 for the install of equipment (which according to Sirius amounts to one box under the seat and an antenna). Lifetime subscription was also amount $400.

What did you add to the "RAZ" radio to get the Sirius up and running? Was it $400?????????

Thanks,

MadMike

Parts of SIRIUS radio installation

MADMIKE

As I am working on getting the parts together so I can have both MOPAR SIRIUS and CD changer with my RB1 NAV radio, I already have the basic two kits. The first kit is the MOPAR SIRIUS radio and the external antenna (mounts on cab roof). The second kit has a mounting bracket for the radio and two wiring harnesses (one connects MOPAR SIRIUS to the port on back of RAZ (or other compatible radio), the second is a antenna extension needed to connect from the roof mounted antenna thru the headliner ,A Pillar, etc to the SIRIUS radio). These two kits list for a total of $295.

The radios listed in the MOPAR SIRIUS owner's manual that it works with are: RBK, RBB, RBP, RBU, RAZ, RBQ, RB1, RB4.

That's what I was looking for. It looks like the whole OEM radio lineup.

Yes, most all units and they all have a MODE button or switch that is used to select the satellite, either SA or SIRIUS shows up in the display.

The folowing is my e-mail exchange with Sirius. It seem that if you buy the antenna everything else is free.

Dear Bob,

Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding what you need to get SIRIUS.

We are more than happy to assist you with your query. Since you already

have a satellite ready head unit, all you need is a receiver and an

antenna. Currently there is a promotion available which allows you to

get a tuner (receiver) for free with the purchase of a satellite

antenna. For further details on the equipment and promotion please

visit our Web site at www.SIRIUS.com and click on "Get A Free Tuner" at

the bottom of the page.

We are dedicated to providing quality service and customer satisfaction.

We encourage comments on how we can improve our service.

Sincerely,

Liam

Subject: Adding Sirius to Dodge RAZ

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with their "RAZ" radio. I want to add

Sirius as it was not installed. I understand that the radio is Sirius

"ready" and that I only need an antenna and some plug in components. The

local dealer's people are not sure what to sell me and I thought you

might be able to tell me what I need to buy.

Thanks Bob. I read it just as you do. I believe I will head to my neighborhood Best Buy/Circuit City Friday or Saturday and see what they have to say.

Madmike,

Sounds like you may have gotten the

right info from above posts.

My local Dodge dealer had never installed

a Sirius radio,I was the first person to purchase the receiver and antenna kits.

($300)I had receiver and antenna

installed at a local stereo place for $165

which I considered a deal. They have an excellent track record for quality installations of XM sat. radios but had

not installed a Sirius unit until mine.

I would have the pros install it!

It's time for factory installation !

CClayton,

Did they have to remove and reinstall the headliner to install the MOPAR antenna? The antennas on the SIRIUS web site appear to be mag mounts.

RFennema:

I was told at Best Buy that you had to use the Mopar reciever and then they sent me out the door. No freebie for me.

I was afraid this would be the story. I called Crutchfield and got the same response. See your dealer for the receiver and antenna.

Wondering now if the $400 I was quoted is fair.

I just bought the Sirius radio at good guys for 49. 99. It was Kenwood Model SSRTP902CX. Installation is $100. 00 plus $4. 99 for "parts". They say it willl, work with the RAZ. Will have it instaled after Christmas. Uses the RAZ controls. I had a tough time getting them to acknowledge the deal I hear about from SIRIUS.

I went to the dealer first and he was $295 for kits and $150 to install.
