This is serious to know - as it affects the

filter medium we need for our fuel filter - I have a great tech article regarding this but I need to know the fuel pressure we're talkimng about - does anybody know these pressures?

Don't quote me on this either, but I was under the impression that that VP44 runs about 20k psi whereas the new common rail is pushing 50k psi.

OK here is the story straight from issue 40 of the tdr magazine:

page 35; "the electronic system directly cotrols the bosch vp44 fuel pump, which has its own electronic module. The pump is a radial piston, distributor-style unit that is used to deliver fuel at high pressure to the six bosch pencil-type injectors. Maximum injection pressure is approximately 20,000 psi. "

page 37; "As mentioned, the biggest change to the engine is the use of the Bosch HPCR fuel system. The system has a rail pressure of 23,200 psi (1600 bar) on the high output engine. "

So you can figure the pressure is slightly lower on the standard output engines
