I have a 2010 3500 SRW CC with the integrated rear seat entertainment. DVD, screen in the ceiling, wireless headphones, etc. Very nice - even has satellite TV if you're nuts enough to pay for the subscription...

I'm looking at ordering a 2016, and it doesn't seem that there is any option any longer for this? What happened? Anyone who has kids certainly realizes the value of this on long trips! I can deal with a portable DVD player instead, but I'm surprised this option seems to have disappeared.

Or am I missing something somewhere on the order sheet? Haven't been in to talk to the dealer yet, so I don't know what the "official" story is.

I used to want the built in DVD player until iPads came out. We bought mini iPads for the girls and never looked back. Download all the movies ha want before the trip and when they get bored, they play games or use drawing apps. I personally think they have way more entertainment with the mini pads over a DVD system.

Wasn't available in 2014 either. I've gone the iPad route as well. I bought a seagate wi-fi hard drive and stick it in the console and plug it in and the iPads connect via wi-fi and each kid can watch what they want as well as look at pictures that are backed up on there or what ever else you want to have on it.

Thanks mpaulson, the "seagate wi-fi hard drive" is a great idea! The kids have tablets (android rather than iPad) but we have so many movies on DVD that we're conditioned to that format. Last trip cross-country, the older daughter watched the entire set of "I Love Lucy" shows - something like 55 DVD's I think. I don't believe she watched anything else now that I think about it.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see all MFG's do away with DVD systems in the very near future.

I too was disappointed I couldn't get this in my '15. On my wife's Durango Citidel we got the option and it's amazingly integrated. By far the best executed factory DVD setup of the vehicle I've owned. Since that system is based on the same radio as in my '15, I'm sad I couldn't order it. We're a very "connected" family, but I still prefer the simplicity of just popping a DVD in when on a road trip and controlling it from the front seat if necessary. The kids then use their iPad's to supplement the DVD system...and everyone is happy.

Totally agree - works great, simple, reliable, and the only batteries to worry about are the ones in the headphones. It gets used all the time in my 2010, and I'm sure I'll get grief from the back seat when it goes away...
