IH was one of the first electric drive trucks on the market back in the 70's Pay Hauler was the truck moniker. Used a diesel generator to drive electric motors that were made by General Electric. Retardation of the diesel engine was very difficult since there is no mechanic drive. Brakes would burn out on the haul road and you could have a run-away truck.
That is why in most mine when trucks drive on the haul roads the trucks will drive on the opposite side of the road. This is so when you have a head on collision the operators might not be killed in the collision. Also in the mines anything larger then what you are driving has the right of way.
