I have a 1995 Dodge diesel one ton motor Home with a Cummins 5. 9L engine I don't have the build date and don't know where to look for It. I know the VIN can tell you a lot but have not done that. What horsepower Is this engine?

170

170 hp... ... .

Engine spec plate

If you look on the driver's side of the timing gear/injection pump gear case there is a specification plate. This plate is about 1" wide and about 6" long. It is mounted on the vertical side of the gear case. It faces the driver-side battery. You have to almost stand on your head to read it, or use a mirror. It will state valve clearances, stock timing spec. CPL#, engine serial# and HP.

I would guess it is the same as the pickup truck engines, 160hp with auto trans and 175 hp ? with stick shift trans.

Did you tab or stake in place the KDP yet?? If not put it at the top of the 'to-do' list.

Hope this helps, Greg L

Did you find out what your HP was?

I recently bought a 1992 Georgie Boy 32' Cruisemaster built on the Oshkosh chassis. It has the 5. 9L Cummins and Allison AT542 trans. Mine has an intercooler and P-pump. Rated at 190HP, tag #0-402-736-810. However I bought it running on 5 cylinders, bad pump. Installed a used pump from a '94 Ram, 0-402-736-838, HP unknown at this time.

Did I mention changing a P-pump in a Class A is #@$%!
