I am trying to find out what turbo size to run and most companies reference bosh 300 and 370 injectors. What injector would be comparable in size to a diesel dynamics stage II

The 300 would be the closest, but they and the 370s are marine injectors. They have a different spray angle compared to ours, and won't be as efficient or as clean burning as the DDP2's you have now. Quit while you are ahead, or get bigger DDP injectors.

I ran 370s and a PDR HX40 for a year or so. You'll have one heck of a time cleaning up the smoke with that charger. Had EGT issues as well. Even towing light.

bmoeller,

When people write DDP are they referring to diesel dynamics or dynamite diesel performance?

I know the hx40 is the wrong turbo for my truck hence the reason for this post. I am trying to come up with the approximate horse power for my truck so that I can choose the right turbo. It seems that the 12cm housing is best for the 300hp injectors and the 14 would be required with the 370 injectors. I was kind of hoping to get 800lb/ft of towable torque out of this thing but I don't know if I am being unrealistic or not. I don't want to race this thing just make it a good pulling and off road truck.

I have seen joe donnelly mentioned here a lot but could not find his user name to read through his posts. Does anyone know how to get ahold of him.

i took 330s off and put on ddpII's and they are not too far apart, i think the ddp's are a touch bigger from the smoke but it is a little hotter now and thus a more smoky time of the year for my tune, i can hit 1250* with less of a flogging (the 330s would hit 1200* right at the top of the usable rpm range in top gear climbing the big bridge on the way home, i can get there on flat ground with the ddpII's with a little gear left) i missed out on the best comparasen with towing a 24' dual wheel tandem gooseneck moving our shop but i started running it after i swapped the sticks, i make anywhere from 1-5 trips a day the 3-4 miles to the new place with various crap on the way down but empty on the flog back, a hard run though the gears gets it to 1250 about 3/4 of the way though direct drive ("3rd" 4th gear) with it to the mat, it is near 100* ambient or more with the ac on iceberg and my auxiliary electric fan on high to maximize the ac, i suspect my 3. 5 year old bhaf sucking the under hood air is not helping either, a decent cold air and moving the plate back a touch would cool it down but i don't have any hills to pull so backing off when it heats up gets the job done

that kinda turned into rambling crap but may yield something useful, or not

general impressions between the injectors, the ddpII's may be good for 3/4 of a mpg better or so, i think the 330s may of hit a little harder on the top end but that may be a function of needing more air for the extra fuel being shot, i need to work a little harder with the ddp's to not fog the cars behind me for the same afc adjustment, which i have not touched since the injector swap but i am going to be doing a turbo soon (he351vg) and kinda wanna use the smoke level i have now to see how it does

Somewhere this thread switched from Diesel Dynamics injectors to Dynomite Diesel Performance injectors ;)

I think the old DD Stage II injectors (which LVJUNIOR is talking about) are not quite as strong as DDP's (Dynomite Diesel Performance) Stage II (75hp).

vaughn

you are correct I have DDII's. I was told that they where 75 hp injectors.

It seems you have a fairly close combination with your 98. Are you runnig the stock turbo. What kind of power are you getting out of it with the 300's

Dynomite diesel in my case.

I would go with an II or HTT 62/12 or 14.

I dynoed 416hp/892tq with my current setup on the '97. Works great here, but the lag is HORRIBLE above 4500ft elevation. EGTs were fine, just the lag was a serious problem. Had one hell of a time getting the 64 lit and rolling from a dead stop.

A typo on my part! :-laf :-laf Didn't intend to add the "P".

Although, DD and DDP shouldn't be to far apart in power. Had DYNOMITE on my mind. ;)

Thanks for the advise. I ordered a II62/14 today Oo. It was about $150 cheaper than HTT. I also ordered a 4k gsk.

The shop said my injectors should be able to light the 14 pretty quick.

I figured so, had to poke a little fun :)

LVJunior I switched out the 300s for stock 215s and moved my plate back a bit to save the transmission (since I don't have the $$$ fix it should I break it). I don't have much idea what my HP was with the 300s but I'd say high 200s maybe close to 300.

I like my Diesel Dynamics Jammer turbo, spools well and tows well. Its biggest drawback is smallish compressor.
