Ok, I don't quite know how to ask this but here goes. Lets take my truck dynod 322 hp, I pull my 5th wheel up a given hill at 70 mph at 28 psi boost at 1250-1300 deg. Now say I upgrade to a comp and DDIII's and get say 380 hp, am I going to see the same EGT's at 70 on the same hill?

I think I have a bad injector or set of injectors and I am thinking of trying some different ones, might as well go bigger.

Dont know this for a fact but it stands to reason... ... . more fuel=more heat. To cool the EGT down you need more air flow not to mention for more fuel you need more air or you get smoke :)

So yes... ... it will probably run hotter... ... . But I am sure one of the dyed in the wool experts will correct me if I am wrong :D

Our Georgia friend is correct. More fuel, more heat. If you're serious about towing with bigger injectors & a box, I'd say you definitely need a Piers Hx40, those turbos are SWEET for towing, with plenty of giddyup for daily driving, too.

Wait... wasn't his question whether his EGT's will go up at the same speed? Assuming it takes the same amount of fuel to go up the hill at the same speed with the same load, then the bigger injecters would just be injecting the same amount of fuel, right? So he wouldn't have a problem unless he was trying to go faster, or haul more, up the same hill, and actually USED the extra power from the injectors... . right?

633. 8 hp = 1250 deg F :)

Bigger injectors bring the needed fuel in a bit earlier, and you use just a tad less fuel as it does more work on the piston since the piston was higher up when it burned. You might actually cut egt a bit at a given hp level. Otherwise, you didn't mention adding air. With the fueling mods you discussed, consider more turbo, etc.

I asked this same question to Diesel Dynamics about 4 months ago when considering some DDIIIs instead of the DDIIs I pulled out of my last truck. They said for a given power level I would see higher EGTs with the DDIIIs. Since I use my truck for towing I stuck with the DDIIs. Maybe if you just did the Comp you wouldn't see more EGT at a given HP level.
