Is the lift pump still engine mounted? The airtex is a cost effective replacement for stock power levels. I have put a couple on with good luck. I have had good luck with injection pumps from Scheid diesel. A lot of people recommend Blue Chip pumps, always hear good things about them but more money. I would expect to pay $1000 or better for an injection from a reputable supplier.

YA I never took it off was going to wait till I had all the parts so I didt loose anything lol I see lots of people use air dog or fass but what gph do I go with its stock 4 the most part

I got my VP-44 from Midwest Fuel Injection and an AirTex lift pump from Vulcan. Lift pump is on the frame rail. AirTex has been working great for 5 years or so. VP-44 went on at 52K and now have 115K. SNOKING

My pressure is at 18psi at idle and wide open throttle is above 10psi. The fuel system has 2 parallel routes for fuel - one to cool the VP44 and another as the return line from the injectors. The VP44 has a spring loaded check valve set to 10psi, so at wide open throttle and less than 10psi you have no cooling on the VP44.

I recommend the FRRP 100 as a direct replacement with better hose connections. Easy installation if you remove the fuel filter housing (you will need a new filter anyway).

Call Blue Chip and talk to Chip about your future plans for modifications to the truck.

* Make sure to read this: The famous 216 code that some vendors tell you is a death code for the VP44, is NOT. All it is telling you is that the timing is not advanced as much as the ECM wants for more than 5 seconds. This can be caused by low lift pump pressure or a worn out housing on the injection pump. If you have good lift pump pressure UNDER LOAD and that code keeps coming back after you clear it, then you know the pump is getting tired, but that code alone does not tell you the engine is going to die soon and put you on the side of the road, as some vendors want you to think. *

Lastly, install a fuel pressure gauge on the output on the top of the fuel filter housing so you can monitor it in the cab.
