I saw an ad for PW injectors nad was thinking about purchasing them as I can only afford injectors right now. Who has them?
Who loves them?
I did a search on them, but I didn't see any dyno results from anyone. Could anyone shed some light for me? Also, if I do get these injectors, would I benefit from getting my pump recalibrated(turned down a bit and timed)if so, what should I have it timed at ?
My truck is a 1990 w/ a turned up pump, a 16cm2 housing, 3" mandrel bent exhaust w/ a walker flow thru muff.
thanx in advance,
joe

I have been asking the same question and have yet to get a strait answer. Here is what I have HEARD so far, The PW injectors do not help an NON intercooled Cummins with 9mm injectors. Someone was talking about some 300hp marine injectors, but the heat would be a problem if you intend using your truck for what it was built for,hauling/work If someone makes up their mind, please let me know.

The stock 89-91. 5 injectors are better than the PW's. You will lose 3-5lbs of boost with the Pw's. The only trucks they help are the 91. 5-93 factory intercooled. I am currently running a set of Lucas injectors from BD,and am very pleased with them. They do create more heat but I haven't had any problem controlling it with my right foot.

Don't get the PW's. You will be extremely disappointed. I lost 4 lbs of boost and about 200 degrees of heat with these injectors. Not the way I would like to spend my money. I now have a set of Lucas injectors. They will put out a lot of power. Enough that you may need an intercooler if you tow heavy. Your pump may need to be adjusted back. I'm going to try a dyno this summer. I want to see how they do in the heat with a load. I know that they put enough power out to make my Getrag growl in 4th gear when you step on it. #ad

Get the marine injectors if you want that first of the first gen's to really run. Matt has the same injectors as I do in 'Ol blue. I've finally got the prices down to where they are affordable if anyone is interested. I tow with mine. Actually I towed today. I have an intercooler and other goodies(see sig). I run as fast as you want without heat problems. Now don't get me wrong if you want to run up hill and do 75 in a 55 zone (not that I would) she'll do it, but you do have to watch the pyro. Mine will run like this uphill with @10,000lbs. behind it in 5th gear at about 5/8-3/4 throttle. Never have to floor it. If you play with it, by mashing it on down it will accelerate, but the heat rises quickly. I never have to downshift to control EGT's, just lift the loud pedal a bit and she cools down quickly. I would suggest higher timing setting with these injectors (which I have yet to do). Probably 1. 5-1. 6mm @ TDC. When I get tine to play with the timing I'll let you know. I'd hate to recommend these and then have someone upset because of high EGT's. Mine runs no hotter than stock while at cruising altitude, but if you want to really run these are the ones to buy. Just remember to make power takes heat and these do supply plenty of both.
