I want to get some new injectors but not sure which to get. The 275 RVs $300 or the dd1, 2, 3, for $700-$1000 I dont do a lot of towing and I am looking for a little better milage. (16-17mpg) I was told the dd2 would work the best for me. What to you guy think?

It all depends on what you want out of your truck, I run with 275's and a comp box, still getting 20-21 unloaded and around 14-15 towing my 5er. I run the comp box on 2x2 most all the time, have never dynoed but suspect I am around 340-350 hp and 750-800 torque that is plenty for just towing around the country with my 5er that weighs 12k loaded, the truck is 8500 lbs giving me a total weight of around 20k.

Cheers, Kevin

If you have an HO I would get some DD2's and if an ETC I would get some DD3's. That will put you right at the limit of what I consider dependable power that is not going to tear up the truck. The effect of injectors on fuel economy is very likely going to be negative with most anything, just so you know. A FEW guys have gotten better economy, but not very many. The 275's seem to be the best bet for a little economy improvement, but don't hold your breath. With the quality of the stock injectors it is really hard to improve fuel atomization, and that is the ONLY way they will improve economy. They otherwise have no effect on the volumetric efficiency of the engine.

I really like my DD3's. However, it is my opinion that they are too much for the stock turbo efficiency wise. The stock turbo simply cannot deliver enough air at high engine loads without creating a bottleneck in the exhaust system. This is due to the high exhaust side drive pressures required to attain high boost pressures from the compressor.

DD3's are great towing injectors when a larger turbo is used.

Don't forget to consider that the stock clutch has been known to slip on the HO with an EZ and 275's. Anything more and you are certain to slip it eventually.

Good luck with your choices.

running DD3's here on my '01 ETH... I get between 16-17 in town, and 18-19 on the fwy.

I could do better, but they are just to much fun when paired with a PDR40

I'm running DD5's.

Mileage is low when using the power. I get about 10MPG towing ~10,000Lbs at 75MPH.

Around town I get about 15MPG, with plenty of smoke.

I average about 12 - 18 MPG with my mix of 75% city 25% highway.

EGT's with Box off, and PDR-40/18 Mega Cannon, Stacks (straight piped)

I get about 1,100*F at ~30-35PSI boost (grossing 25,000-30,000Lbs)

With Box on 5x5... . 1,600*F is attainable with ~40 - 45PSI boost

My experiance,

Merrick Cummings Jr

BTW, Dyno'd 456. 9/950 with this combo.

In my truck ive run the DD3's,the DD supermentals,(DD4),and bully Dog 7's(major fuel). I have run the DD1's,2,and 3s, in my Dad's truck. Having tried all these ,here's my take dd1s do not give big seat of pants increase, and i wouldnt get them. DD2,s you can really feel, and they dont smoke more than dd1/s. The difference between DD2's and 3's is very noticeable, off boost smoke is a lot worse with DD3's,and EGTS tend to get higher with dd3's when towing with a stock turbo. There is a very noticeable power increase with DD3's over the DD2's. The difference between DD3's and the Supermental injectors(DD4), is very small, you can hardly feel the difference if any. I wish i had gotten to dyno back to back, you can hardly feel the difference at all. there is not much smoke difference either. The bully dog 7's are just insane, huge amounts of fuel and power, they run beautiful, but smoke is almost impossible to avoid. ,they clean up nice with a #110,and a #68 nitrous pill though:D . So if i were you. Id go with dd2's. You said you were looking for mileage. IF you are willing to take a peak at youe EGT guage on hard pulls, can deal with a few puffs of smoke off boost, and want more power, get the dd3 or supermental. I feel the supermental is the best performing all around streetable injector,so far from what ive had in my truck.

Good post Snowman! holys*#t, you could be an injector consultant. Let me know if those Super Mentals are taking up too much space around the house, I'm looking for a set.

I just installed DD3's the middle of this week and haven't had time to run enough fuel through them to tell about the mileage aspect yet, however, the smileage:p has definitely increased. I think I can saftley say the mileage will be going down a dab at the least as the pedal on the right is more subject to hit the floor. I get a pretty decent puff at low boost. It's enough to make people back off if wanted.

I am looking forward to tomorrow. I leave early am to get the full DTT treatment to the slushbox (if it makes it till then)

The very first thing I did to my truck (other than trans upgrade and gauges) was DD2's. I have nothing but good things things to say about them. They really woke up the truck and gave it a lot more power. Mileage may have increased a little but I couldn't tell for sure. They are a great addition in my opinion.

Robin.

DELTA DELTA THREE!

Well, they ain't here yet, but I'm watching for the BIG BROWN GOODIE TRUCK!

I'm going to have to turn the box down until I get a bigger turbo. Then I'll be happy?:D

Full report by Thursday.
