Hey all, what kind of injectors should I buy for my '02 auto. I have trans mods in the near future and want to build it up. I do a lot of interstate travel and pull an 8k lawn trailer in town. Would DD2's be good our what other options do I have. Smoke control isn't really an issue, but mileage could be:confused: Thanks for your help!!

Brandon,

Hello from a fellow Omaha area guy (La Vista).

You can see what I did with my pickup (see sig). I like the DDII's a lot, but I got a great deal on them about two years ago from Piers Diesel Research. Mine is set up primarily for towing... I backed the EZ from setting 3 to 2 to help control a bit of smoke from stop signs:D. My mileage went up about 1. 5 mpg with just the EZ and dropped back significantly with the EZ and DDII's. I'm getting 17 around town now and about 20 on the highway. It drops off quickly when I cruise above 65mph:(.

I just helped a buddy install some EDM Mach 2. 4's in his 01. 5 6Spd with an EZ box. It runs!! They were about twice as much money as my DDII's, as I recall.

My . 02 worth...

Hi Brandon, I 'm was raised around Sioux City, Iowa its about 100 miles from Omaha, injectors are like asking someone what kind of ice cream they like, your going to get a wide range of flavors. I have bullydogs 120 horse injectors (stage 4) they put alot of power to the ground and smoke too:D :D . They also seemed to add around 7 or 8 pounds of boost, also raised my egts so anything that big needs a pyro. I currently live in Idaho and the elevation is alot higher than Iowa's but i went to visit last year and they were alot more powerful there, it must have been the lower elevation. I guess what i trying to say is you will be happy with almost anything, I have had no trouble with the bully injectors and i have used them for around 50k. I did see a little less mpg like maybe around 2-3 mpg, But i had the power i needed for anything. The bullydog injectors are great and seemed to be price the same as most if not a little cheaper. Good luck hunting for the right ones for you, the tdr will provide you with enough info for your personal choice. Corey:cool:

I agree with Dave. Give Rip Rook a call. Supernice guy. He would probably recommend the Mach 2. 4's. It just depends on what kind of upgrades you do. Like turbo, box etc.

I really like my dd2's, they were slightly used and I got a good deal on them, but if I was buying new I would have probably tried a set of edm's.

What is the difference between the dd2's and edm's? Thanks again for all your imput. It's helping me make my decision

Thanks,

Brandon B.

The're supposed to run cooler too. If they do, I might go with a set of 100 hp edm's someday because I don't want to run any hotter than I am now with my dd2's. By the way if someone knows for sure if 100 hp edms would run as cool as 80hp dd2's, I'd like to know.

I will talk to rip and see what he recommends. i am thinking about a ttpm box or the ufm. Would the edm's say 1. 5-2. 5ish be a good setup for my towing and such? Don't know how cool I will run with the stock hy-35

Thanks again,

Brandon B.

I've been running a set of EDM 1. 5's for about a week. Don M. says the new ones are good for 85 hp. The sticks run very nicely all by themselves & with my EZ plugged in I can make way more torque than my stock clutch will hang on to.

They run fairly cool. (800* at 70 mph. 500* at 60 mph. no load level ground) They pull down some nice mileage too. I just calculated 24. 5 mpg at the pump after a 50 mile 60 mph run with some modest hills. :D

This Saturday I am sticking my DD2's in, all in all I can't wait. Since I have to tow with this truck I am trying to keep it moderate.

I have the DD2s. I wish I would have gone EDM. The EDM injectors just do everything better: more tq, less smoke, better MPG.

Anyone who's considering the DD2s would have me recommend them the Mach 1. 5s.

I swapped in some EDM mach 1's into a friend's truck not too long ago. Almost no smoke-- I mean ridiculously clean. As clean as stock, maybe cleaner. This is at 6000 feet too... .

Rumor has it that 1. 5s are cleaner than mach 1s, even though that seems impossible.

I am presently recommending to folks that they either find go cheap and buy some used honed injectors, or buy EDM if getting new ones. When shopping for NEW injectrors, I feel that the EDMs give you more for your money, even if they are a bit more money.

Perhaps I could get away with the 1. 5's before the transmission mods if i watch it close. This stuff sucks ya know:rolleyes: If only I could have it all at once:D . I would like to know if the 1. 5's would be okay on the stock transmission??????

Thanks
