I bought a 2001 Ram 3500 SLT Quad Cab HO/6 speed limited slip 2wd new in June 2001. I put 325,000 miles on it and sold it to my son-in-law and daughter in early 2006 when I bought a 2006.

It was used for about a year as a work truck by one of my s-i-l's job superintendents and has mostly sat around for the last four years. My daughter has used it on weekends occasionally to haul something with it and my sil has towed trailers with it a few times. The odometer shows approximately 355,000 which is accurate miles.

My son-in-law wants to sell it and my daughter says she is willing to let it go. She asked me what it is worth. I don't know how to value it.

The truck is white, clean, has good Michelin tires, and is in overall good shape. I always serviced it every 10k miles with Rotella and Fleetguard filters from Genos. It has a Jacobs exhaust brake, gauges, and a mechanical fast idle box. My mechanic buddy and I misdiagnosed an off idle stumble years ago when it had about 100k miles and we replaced the VP-44 with a Cummins reman. I replaced the Jacobs brake that was sticking shut once at about 250k miles. I had the transmission rebuilt by Standard in Fort Worth at 305k miles and a new clutch was installed then. It has a Mag Hytec differential cover. Interior is still in excellent shape but I think the leftside, outer edge of the driver's seat fabric is frayed. The electric window lifts and door locks still work fine.

I wouldn't be afraid to put it to work pulling trailers.

What is it worth? Anyone know what its actual cash value is?

Similar trucks are listed on autotrader from $8000 to $13,000. Many of them down around 100k, a couple up in the 200's. Nothing near 355k.

Condition will help you but high miles will scare most buyers away. I'd guess you would have to price it well under $10,000 if you really want it to sell. Kelly blue book says $9500.

Thanks for good advice. I passed a link to this thread back to my daughter and sil for them to read you comments.

What is so funny about this is that a 10 year old, 355k mile truck is worth more than a 4 year old King Ranch 6. 0l Ford. I'm curious to see what it goes for HB as I have an 01' also.

"Like" button.

This is the reason I did a $4,000 body refurb. last year on my '01. 220,000 miles and running strong. In fact my mechanic has told me the day I decided to sell it, is the day he gets a new (to him) truck.

I hadn't thought of the comparison with a late model low mileage Sick. Ohh Furd but you're right. The difference is huge.

There is really no comparison for our Cummins-powered Ram trucks among the other light trucks.

I sold our 2002 3500 4x2 dually QC SLT+ (G-package) Sport with leather, HO/6-speed, 47K miles and excellent (as new) condition with injectors, Edge EZ, BHAF, Jardine 4" exhaust, (347HP/762 ft-lb on Dynojet 246C), Westach gauges, B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch, South Bend Con OFE clutch, 4. 10 gears, etc. for $17,500 in September when we picked up our 2011 truck. That's probably toward the top end of the price range for a 2nd gen truck.

Rusty, I'm sure my daughter and sil's truck is nowhere near as clean as yours was and has a few more miles on it but it is interesting that almost ten year old truck would bring that much money.
