I'd tried the search forum but didn't have any luck. If I understand this correctly, it feels like my truck is defueling way to early in 2nd and 3rd gear. It gets to a certain point and then there is just nothing left. Is that normal? From what little I've read the GSK helps?

A GSK is a governor spring kit.

The stock springs defuel before 3000 rpm. You can buy GSK's for different rpm limits. With an auto trans the kit is great.

The Cummins can safely rev to 3500, after that it needs better valve springs.

I still have the stock springs in mine and was wondering how much those may cost for the 3gsk. My truck is a 97 3500 dually..... and usuall falls flat on its face at around 75 to 80 miles an hour..... and who should I look at to get some

Keep in mind, like was said before, If you wind one much over 3000 rpm the intake and exhaust valves can "float" or not close competely. The piston can come up and smack the open valves and you can guess the rest. The higher 60lb spring pressure makes the valves close accurately like they should.

while I usually self-impose a 3500rpm rev limit with stock valvesprings (this is at 50psi boost), I have accidently tagged over 4000 a few times due to wheel spin. I've also got a friend who has stood his tach needle straight down (5k GSK) with stock valvesprings with no problems (I DO NOT recomend this! LOL)

if you set your timing low (16. 5ish or less) the truck will pretty much be out of steam by 3500 anyway, you you'll naturally want to shift before then anyhow

I say get the 4k and don't look back! :D
