Alberta Members, I could use a hand

School was not like this when I was going.

Yes I know - but was wondering where the name came from. This is what I found:

Main Entry: Ca. nuck

Pronunciation: k&-'n&k sometimes -'nuk

Function: noun

Etymology: origin unknown

Date: 1835

: a Canadian and especially a French Canadian

Now does anybody have a better explanation as to the origin?

Canuck

Usualy used as slang name for Canadian Soldiers. Most likely it would have been used 1800's for a Canadian born soldier serving in the British military.
