Forth cummins including two 6. 7's and i've never heard of a skim key... threw the code yesterday... no performance effect... thx

i have an after market remote start alarm. sometimes the box that reads the code form the key (key is buried in dash) loses its connection, the truck shuts off. (just like a old all metal key would do, it will start the truck but shut off within 3 sec. )
when this happens (chip signal is interrupted) i get that code 0513
i have had it for several years.

yea its the signal of your key being interrupted.
2 rowdy-- you should program another new chipped key before that one totally dies on you.

I tried the 2nd key that came with the truck and the same thing happened. Can they totally reprogram one? What kind of cost am I looking at? BTW I have about 138,000 miles on the truck.

if you have 2 working keys you can program the new one. ( i believe it in the owners manual, but search for it, you find it)
you just need a chipped key, doesn't have to have the key-less entry FOB to work

I had the same thing going on with mine and ended up putting a new keyless computer/controller on it.
