Engine Stumbles - sometimes.

On a 6%+ grade, towing 14K, when dropping below 40mph... . let the TC slip like crazy or manually shift it into 2nd to lock it up? With engine rpm's around 2800, will it hammer all the 2nd stuff too much with the TC locked up?

Thanks for any input:eek:

When in doubt downshift. Thats pretty much borderline on keeping rpms high enough to keep clutches from slipping even with the TC locked. At say 35 mph in drive with the TC unlocked it is going to heat the fluid FAST. In 2nd you will run more rpms but with the TC locked it will be a lot cooler and the gear reduction will make things a lot easier on the transmission.
