I went thru my OEM service manual and can't find the Oil pressure specs. Any one know what they are ? I am running at an idle around 40 psi and 70-80 psi on the highway.
Also what are good "boost" pressures on a stock engine. I am running 26lbs of boost unloaded, floored and about 6lbs at 70mph with stock timing settings.

Kyle, I wouldn't consider your truck stock!

Lets see,
1) tweaked pump
2) matched injectors
3) K&N air filter
4) Straight exhaust

26 # boost is getting up there. Mine is running 27# and it took a rebuilt tweaked pump, PW injectors along with some other stuff to get there. Stock my truck ran at 15# on a good day.

The oil pressures you have looks good. Normal oil pressure for a 91 is 30-70 # @2500 RPM.

filter bypass opens at 65 psi
Oil pressure switch set to turn on light at 12 psi.

Hope this helps

Hey Kyle,
According to my manual you're right on the money (30 to 70). Good rule of thumb from all the old time racers was 10 psi per 1000 rpm.

According to the Cummins Power Masters with warm oil you should have the following oil pressures when taken from the main oil rifle. At Idle 20-30 PSI At 1600 RPM (torque peak) you should have 40-50 PSI At 2000 RPM (cruising speed) you should have 40-55 PSI and at rated RPM (varies by year) you should have 40-55 PSI. Very accurate gauges may show fluctuations of 2-3 PSI with oil pump pulsations. This info comes directly from a letter I received from Cummins in Oct. 2000. Hope this helps. John
