I'm sure everyone has seen this on the back of your oil containers. It lists all the major engine maufacturers, and how a particular oil meets or exceeds their quality standards. Does it mean anything to us?

By the way- I just bought 3 gallons of John Deere Plus 50 SAE15W40 CI-4/SL. It is still out there, just look where most people wouldn't- tractor dealerships.

If you keep up with testing, it means something. The CES 20078 (Cummins Emissions Solutions) Tests were run using an EGR. The results are, if the oil meets this standard, it meets the standards for diesel engines using EGRs. The new 6. 7 has an EGR so that's a good standard to check for on the oil.

CES is Cummins Engine Specification, I believe. Somewhere on Cummins' website I believe you can get to an area with literature for these.

But for the life of me I can't find it now..

Oops! Didn't mean to blatantly contradict you, Alan. Should've read your post more carefully. Sorry if I offended.

I'm not offended. I always thought it meant Cummins Engine Specs until I read an article about the testing. Ain't no thang. ;)
