on my 96 there is a hose about 4-6 inches long right above the primer button and it curves in the middle. what is that hose for? it looks pretty bad. is that a fuel line?

when i replace the hose, do i just prime the system to get fuel back in the hose before i start it or i can i leave the hose empty when i start the truck and it will refill itself? i got some fuel hose from foster truck that stuff is the right size right?

I think that hose is a prebent part avail thru cummins. Putting a straight, unstressed hose on that location may cause a kink. Might want to check cummins part before shortcuttin it. .

yes you will have to reprime the fuel system. if you are due for a fuel filter change, thats a good time to do it. but if it isnt leaking, i wouldnt mess until you do a filter. mine isnt lookin too hot either, but it isnt leaking, so its gettin done next filter.

i also noticed at the bottom of the fuel filter on my 96 that it is pretty wet with fuel, but nothing else is wet. the diff isn't wet or anything else under the filter is wet. i noticed it has been wet for sometime now but no problems been as of yet with my 96

I had a leak like that once. It was the input banjo fitting on top of the fuel filter mount. I thought it was the water bleed valve at the bottom of the fuel filter at first. Clean the top of the filter mount with brake cleaner. Then watch it while it's running. It could be the O-ring for the water bleed valve too so take a peek at that when it's running.
