I see many people with 3. 54 in their sigs, but when I looked at the paper badge under my hood, it said 3. 50 Is it really 3. 50 or 3. 54, or am I just confused

My 1996 3500 with Dana 80 was a 3. 54. Off the top of my head, I normally associate the 3. 50 axle ratio with the Ford 9" rear axle, but then again I haven't seen your sticker. Have you checked for a tag on the rear axle cover bolts? How about inside the glove compartment? Do you happen to have the new car window sticker stashed away in the glove compartment - that should indicate the axle ratio as well.

I can only remember one number past the decimal (3. 5) on the tag for my 96. It may have been 3. 50 but I'm pretty sure it wasn't 3. 54. Like Rusty said that was a Ford ratio that seems to stick in peoples minds.

On the sticker on the under side of the hood, the reason it only has 3. 5 stated on it for the axle ratio(s), is that the 1500's had a ratio of 3. 55 while the 2500 and 3500's have the 3. 54's. I guess they figure 3. 5 was enough for most, since a lot of people (non-gear/diesel heads) don't even know that sticker exhists.

BTW, they have since moved that sticker on some trucks to the glove box.
