Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) What is "NO VIN" on superchips 3705 mean?

Got a superchips 3705 off of evil-bay ... so went to program the newly aquried truck, a 1999 . . it says"NO VIN " . . What does it mean? a. already another programe in truck . b. unit was used on a different truck and not reset. c. unit defective . d. got ripped off. e. all the above. f. you tell me ... . thanks all ... .

I'd call Super Chips and talk to the customer service... they should be able to help you out.

I agree, the seller didn't return his truck to "stock" before shipping the unit. You'd better contact the seller and demand a return. If not file a complaint through paypal directly if you paid with them. If you paid with a M/O file a complaint with eBay.

When I had my Superchips programmer in my 2002, it would say "VIN LOCKED", when you went in to change settings. We tried to use it in another truck (it was still installed in mine) and it would keep coming up "VIN LOCKED" as well.



It almost sounds like it isn't communicating with your truck. Check all the fuses, and make sure one isn't blown.

A friend of mine tried the superchips on his powerhoax and IIRC he had the same message. He found out there was already a program installed in his truck (he bought it used) so the superchips won't work. I'm not familiar with superchips at all and his is an '01 ford so I'm not sure any of this applies here. Do you know if there is a program already installed in your truck? I'd check with Superchips before you go postal on the seller.
