OK, you see my sig. This truck RARELY tows so I shouldn't worry. Recently I hooked up to my dads 24 foot boat and took it to get the canvas re-done. On the way I stopped at a weigh station and came up with a GCW of 16,000. The max EGT's I saw was 1300 on a steep grade at 70 MPH. Flat freeway yielded around 800. However it was the slight grades that had me wondering. On a slight incline at freeway speeds would yield around 1150 to 1200 depending on the % of incline. How long can these motors sustain 1200 before we should worry.

As I have said this truck was never intended for towing or I would have used a smaller turbo but I was curious what the general concensus was on EGT temps. Seems to me that bone stock trucks run high untill you disable the wastegate. Is this true... . my truck was stock for so short of time that it never had guages while it was stock. What do ya think?:)

1250 pre turbo to be safe. Any more than that for a sustained pull and you will be melting... .

I run no more than...

1200* when towing. With straight pipe, EZ, and boost elbow, it is hard to get it that high. With this Texas heat, it is time for a good radiator blowing. I did some yesterday and you would not believe the amount of dirt and trash that came out. Rock on!:D
