I can only say that I steped up from a voyager to a brakesmart & what a difference. The brakesmart is twice the price as other cont. but worth the $$ IMHO.

I think that says it all, if you don't mind shelling out the dough the Brakesmart is probably the best. I have had plenty of good luck with my Prodigy controllers, easy to use, never a problem.

I am converting one of my work trucks/trailers to elec over hydraulic and I am going to see how it goes with hydraulic trailer brakes and a Brakesmart. I am doing this because after the high initial investment I am expecting better performance and less expensive trailer brake jobs. Buying electric brake parts is getting spendy. This is on a truck/trailer running 40k miles a year.

I have a Prodigy and really like it. I tow about 5K but I am getting ready to try it on an 8K trailer.

There is a lot more talk about this in the Towing and RV Forum.

Prodigy for me... I have had no issues with it. I hear great things about Brakesmart though. I might have to give Brakesmart a try for my next one.

1st choice - Brakesmart

2nd choice - Jordan Ultima 2020

Anything else is a non-starter.

And, yes, I've used ramped time-based and inertial controllers (such as the Prodigy) before buying the Jordan Ultima 2020 before the Brakesmart was on the market.
