Tony... I saw the Darrin system at the pulls in the desert a month ago at Mr. Bob's distributing display. . real nice looking set up and very beefy pieces. . the third gen track bar doesn't have the same weakness as the 2nd gens.

BTW Mr. Bob's # is 661-245-0319 he is in Calif. and supports all the western events . . he also has the 2150 Odyssey battery at a great price

I have Darin's Track bar bracket. Seems to be ok so far. The guy who put my ball joints (who also repairs 4x4 and races monster trucks like Bigfoot) liked the bracket but not the track bar. He said you have to get away from the bushing period. He has had someone making track bars for the rams with heim joints. No brackets, looks like the original just with different ends on it.

Check out this one... http://thurenfabrication.com/trackbar.html

A few guys have them, and have said they are great, and not quite as much as the DT. It is a weld on bracket... But that means you are not tightening down a damn bracket all the time.

It is made for a lift though... on a diesel it should work with a 2" lift up to 5-6" I think. It may work without a lift, or he may beable to make a frame mount bracket for you guys with out lifts. Email Don @ -- email address removed -- and let him know that Alphacowboy sent ya his way.

Its my next big purchase for sure!

I am running A DT Track Bar and a DSS.

Niceys: :)

DT Track Bar allows for re-centering of front axle after a lift or leveling kit is installed. Double ended Heim Joints from HECK. Beefy and is S T R A I G H T by design which transmits side load in a liniar fashon. The thing just looks Gnarly and Beefy under the truck. Axle has no choice but to stay put as the heims do not have that laxidazical kinda hold like a ball in socket fit.

Baddys: :(

Bolts ABSOLOTLY NEED to be allmost superhuman tight or movement WILL elongate axle mounting pocket. The sleeve has a bit of play on this end and slack is not an option. Heim joints can be klanky ... . but klank Kan Be Good :-laf . CANNOT use MagHytech front diff cover with a DT (Old style anyhow I dunno how new one will be)

Those are the EXACT reasons why Don designed his the way he did, he took lots and lots of suggestions and feedback from many members over at pavementsucks.com to come up with a fail-proof bar. So far the bars he has out there are lasting, and on top of that, one of the members even launched his truck a few feet in the air and landed hard, didnt bend or nothing. buy what I have read about DT and others bars, I am deffinately going to go with Thunderfabs design... bolt on brackets suck!

Reading through this has me leaning toward a Thuren Fab track bar, but my truck is stock ride height and I intend to keep it that way. What is the reason it isn't available for stock height? Does it have something to do with the weld-on bracket that replaces the ball joint mount?

The heim joint idea of the DT bar sounds good but Toolman's comments steer me away from it. Don't want noise or run the risk of pounding out the axle pocket holes. I see the DT's downfall as being unable to absorb some shock/vibration due to lack of a poly bushing. Of course you want very minimal to zero lateral movement of the axle but absorbing some of the shock load has merit.

For Dons bar, the problem with the stock height trucks is that to get the bracket under there without totally hacking the OEM part off and having a complete replacement bracket it puts the mount a little low. Email him though, maybe he could fab up an entire replacement bracket. I dont know, the kid has made some pretty sweet stuff, so I would say he could do it. I am sure he would be willing to help out!

I spoke with Don at Thurenfabrication last night. He is about to finish design/testing his new track bar for stock height to 2. 5" high trucks. I was ready to buy his track bar kit but he suggested I wait a week or so until he finished this new one. He suggested that it would better suit my needs having a minimal lift. I'm sold on his product and will wait until the new one is ready.

Here's my story about installing a new track bar.....

Today... ... I took my '01 4WD to my favorite local shop to have them install the following:

1. Borgeson steering shaft,

2. Darin's Tack Bar braket kit with '03 type track bar,

3. Darin's Steering Stabilizer .

I was sorely tempted to install this stuff myself at home, but after the installation hassles with the track bar kit, I'm sure glad I put this in professional hands.

Installation of the Borgeson steering shaft was a piece of cake. Ditto for the Darin's Steering Stabilizer. However, regardless the statement in the Track Bar Kit's instruction sheet that "no drilling, welding, or other nasty stuff" is needed; grinding and welding were both required in order to install the kit.

On my truck (things might be different on your truck), we had to 'grind to fit' the bracket adjacent to the orignial mounting bracket..... not such a big deal. The big deal showed up when we found the top mounting bolt (due to the slope/angle of the frame) would not allow the bolt to seat flush with the top of the frame and therefore, the bolt head had contact with the lower "u-joint" of the Borgeson steering shaft. As a result, we had to weld the Track Bar Bracket to the frame.

What should have been about 2 hours work turned out to be 4 hours for 2 guys.

That's my story... . anybody else experience any similar problems with these kits?
