hey guys,

I just put a set of Traction Bars on this weekend. I got them used off a friend, but they are LSfarm bars. what is the correct way to preload the bars? Shorter and pull on the rear axle, or longer and push on the rear axle? I got them on and locked the brackets down and then tightened the bars up by hand (sorta like you would an oil filter). I tightened the lock nuts and took her for a ride. Before my truck would jerk your head off when it changed gears and now the shifts are much smoother, there is no engine bounce at each gear change either. I was expecting the truck to be harsher than it already was when it shifted. Just wondering what you guys think.

Thanks, Dave.

That is how I set mine up as well per Gregs (lsfarm) instructions.

If I recall if the bars mount on the bottom of the axle like lsfarms you shorten the bars. If they mount on top of the axle you lengthen the bars.

Correct. Tighten them if they are mounted below the axle. After a hundred miles or so, loosen the lock nuts and tighten them again. Hand tight, but as tight as you can twist the bar. You may have to do this 2 or 3 times before all the spring slack is taken out.
