Want a #11 plate

WHOAH DOGGY .... EDM's!

I have been playing around with this; 28lb. ; 34lb. and 36lb. Would like to set it at 36lb. but don't want any issues.

What do you think? :)

I had a non wastegated pdr35/12 that saw 47psi regularly. But I upgraded to one with a wastegated 12 housing and used an adjustable boost elbow to limiit it to 38. I think you'd be fine with 36.

Why don't you call Piers and ask him? That turbo is out of its efficiency range (or on the ragged edge of it) at that boost.

Heck my PDR HX40 is wastegated at 38 psi, thats where Piers wants it so it does not go boom.

I need more boost from my PDR 35 also. I only get 20lbs out of it right now. They said they would set it at 36, but then when I called back they said they won't set it that high for a customer until it is broken in. My old Hy35 got 32 with no problem. I also run much hotter now 150-200 hotter than I did with my HY. I think I'm going to install the adjustable elbow also and set it around 36. Any suggestions. It has plenty of miles on it now, I would consider it broken in.

crank it up... most of these turbo companies give conservative boost numbers to keep their returns/complaints down...

they give numbers where basicly nobody will mess anything up, but if you drive your truck like a sane person, you can crank the boost up higher than is recomended.

Just called PDR and asked them this question and they said that a max. of 38 was as high as they would recommend. Heck with the waste gate blocked off at my elevation I can only get 36----so I guess I will block it off and leave it there.

Thanks for the posts.

Lowell,

What elevation are you at? I usually drive from Springs to Denver so I see 6000 Springs to 7000 Monument Hill then to 5000 in Denver. I have seen 37. 1 max (digital, max values stored). Usually I stay around 30-34.

Forrest,

I would like to ask some questions here. (I'm learning a lot from this discussion. ) Does a pressure gauge measure absolute pressure or the difference between current ambient and boost pressure? If the latter how does altitude affect that measurement?

I'm retarded... it's measuring pressure over ambient, so absolute manifold pressure is different, but shaft speed and pressure differential isn't different per altitude...

damn, been living the high life too much today!

sorry for the misunderstanding

Instead of just blocking of the wastegate, i would set it to 35 or 34. The reason i say this is because when that wastegate opens up you are able to flow more air. This will help with top end EGTs if you have a problem with them. The secret of any motor is air flow. That is why cams and ported heads help out a lot.
