Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) What is the Price range of a V44 Injection Pump?

I think I just got violated at the local Cummins shop. What is the typical cost of a VP44 Injection pump for the Dodge Ram? I was told there are several different types and the ISB for the Ram gets the most expensive one, at $1700 which is a far cry from the $995 price I was quoted from the gentleman at the parts counter four days earlier. At the $1700 price they charged when I picked my truck up, I thought it was a new one, but it was a Cummins Re-Man. The labor was about 9. 9 hrs to change out the pump, is this in line as well?

I had mine done a few months ago... ... ... . 9. 9 is to much. I beleive I was charged 4 hours, but it actually takes less time than that. Also, I would choose a re-man pump over a new one. I am thinking that a re-man will have better parts and so forth. Upgraded parts for the ones that failed.

The dealer here wanted $1600, I got them down to $1465... and yes these are re-man prices. Now if you have the time and can wait, call Chris at Relentless Diesel. He has the pumps for between $1200-$1300. He is located in Willis, TX. If you dont need your truck right away and can wait to have him ship you a pump, let me know I will give you his number.

It could take up to 9. 9 hrs to replace if they repalced the pump with out opening the hood, doing all the work from the underside.

Changed my VP in front of my house in about four hours, First time I've done one, had a friend help, but 9 hours???? Blind mechanic maybe? Really not that hard of a job. I'd find someone else to do it.

If it helps the book gives 2. 6 hours to change one. One of our guys can do it in or close to a hour if he really wants to.
