What is the sensor mounted on the top of... .

the fuel filter housing? It's on the rear edge and plugs into a cable harness.

I just noticed last night that it wasn't plugged in. Plugged it back together and now I have a Check Engine Light.

Pulled it apart, light gone.

It's not for water, that would be in the bottom. Does it sense Low Fuel Pressure? If so, then it must be "open circuit" in a normal condition and "closed circuit" when it trips the light.

I just gotta buy the manual... .

Looking at the manual for my '99 (should be same for yours) it's the fuel heater/fuel heater temperature sensor thermostat.

Don't know why your check engine light is on.

Good luck with it.

Hmmmmm, a thermostat. Okay, that begs the question of why it is activating the ck eng lite?

I will have to ohm it out tomorrow and see what gives. Can't be too expensive.
